Fashion Show & Runway Production

Fashion show production is the technical craft that lets clothing be seen properly. It covers the physical build, catwalk, risers, entrance portal, seating layout and back-of-house dressing areas, and the show elements that carry it: lighting designed so fabric colour, texture and movement read accurately down the full length of the walk, a sound system with the headroom to hold a room without distorting, screens or LED walls extending the look beyond the runway, and cue management that keeps models, music and lighting states in exact step. Timing decides whether a show feels controlled or chaotic, so every walk-on, change of state and finale is called from a rehearsed cue sheet. What does fashion show production include?

Runway construction, staging, lighting design, sound, screens, camera positions, show calling and back-of-house infrastructure. It begins with a venue site visit and CAD plans showing the catwalk, seating blocks, photographer’s pit and dressing area, because those four things determine everything that follows.

Our workshop then builds the runway and entrance, our crew rigs lighting and sound, and a show caller runs the sequence live.

How is a runway built?

Catwalks, risers and entrance portals are designed in CAD and fabricated in our workshop using CNC machinery, so height, width, surface finish and colour are chosen for your collection rather than dictated by hire stock.

The surface matters more than people expect: it has to give models secure footing in unfamiliar shoes while photographing cleanly under high-intensity light. Around it, draping and set elements form the entrance, mask back-of-house and give the space its identity.

How do you light a catwalk?

Front light first, and plenty of it. Garments need even, colour-accurate illumination along the entire walk so fabric texture and true colour reach both the front row and the cameras: profile lanterns and fresnels do that work, not decorative fixtures.

Drama is then layered on top: moving heads and beam effects at the entrance and finale, haze to give the beams shape, and lighting states that shift with each segment of the show. A lighting designer and technician programme and operate it live.

What sound and visual support does a show need?

Music is the show’s heartbeat, so we specify a system with the clarity and headroom to carry it without harshness, plus microphones for any introduction or designer address. Our audio visual team runs playback to the cue sheet.

LED video walls behind the entrance carry brand content, campaign film or live camera close-ups of detail the back rows would otherwise miss.

Can the show reach an audience beyond the room?

Yes. Live streaming with planned camera positions delivers the show to press, buyers and customers in real time, and the recorded multi-camera edit becomes campaign content afterwards.

Who calls the show?

An Avari show caller works from a cue sheet agreed at the technical rehearsal, on radio with lighting, sound and back-of-house dressers. Our event management team handles the build schedule, model call times, front-of-house and de-rig.
